Once you have DAZ Studio installed and open, your next step is to load content into your scene. This can be done in several ways. We will cover each of these in this document.
There are several ways to load content into your scene. Find what you are most comfortable with, or try a combination of any of the options. Use the best method for your work-flow.
One of the more common methods is to “Double-Click” the item in the Smart Content Pane or the Content Library Pane.
Using your left mouse button (LMB), double-click on the item you want and it will load into the scene. It may load on a figure if you have one selected, or be placed at a pre-determined location within the scene itself. In our examples, we are using clothing designed for the Genesis figure.
Another way is to “Drag and Drop” the item from any of the Panes onto the Viewport.
Left-click (hold) and Drag the item directly onto an item, or onto the Viewport, and release. The item will load onto the figure, or into your scene, depending on the type of item you chose.
Another way is to Drag and Drop the item from any of the Panes onto the Viewport, having it land on a targeted location instead of in a predetermined location.
Hold the Alt key and Left-click (hold) and Drag the item directly onto the Viewport.
In this case, you will see a circle follow your mouse inside the viewport. Once you have the circle positioned in the desired place, let go and your item will load where you placed it.
This currently workes on Poser based files only.
DAZ Studio allows you to drag files from outside the program into the Viewport. Depending on the type of file you choose, different things happen. For example, an item may load or change appearance if you drag a Figure, prop or Material Preset. A process within the application may run if you have dragged in a Script file.
Caution: You should never run a scrip from an unknown source.
The final way to load an item into your scene is by choosing “Load it” from the Context Menu.
Right-click the desired item in any of the Panes and a menu will appear. Select “Load it” and the item will load onto the figure, or into your scene, depending on the type of item you chose.
