Weight Map Visualization

Summary

Options and modes of displaying weight map information in the viewport.

Weight Display Mode

Main Menu Bar : Window > Tabs > Tool Settings > Options Menu > Weight Map Display Mode 1)
Viewport : right-click menu > Weight Map Display Mode 2)

Function : Changes the visual display of weight map values.

Options :

  • Don't Draw Weights : Hides the display of weight map values on the model.
  • Draw Weight Values : Displays intensity shaded weight map values on the model. 3)
  • Draw Weighted Vertices : Displays weight map values as absolute shaded values on the model.

Edit Gradient Colors

Main Menu Bar : Window > Tabs > Tool Settings > Options Menu > Edit Gradient Colors 4)

Function : Changes the colors and number of colors used to shade weight map value intensity is shaded in the viewport.

Options :

  • Number of Colors : Specifies the number of colors used in the intensity shaded gradient. Options are :
    • 2 (100%, 0%) 5)
    • 3 (100%, 50%, 0%)
    • 5 (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 0%).
  • Color : Sets custom colors for each % band of the intensity shaded gradient.

Show Children Weight

Main Menu Bar : Window > Tabs > Tool Settings > Options Menu > Show Children Weight 6)

Function : By default, weight map intensity values are shaded only for the current bone selection. The Show Children Weight setting toggles the display to a combined value for the current bone selection and all of its children in the hierarchy.
