Product Information

The Shark Tail Reimagined Texture Add-on for Genesis 8 Males will expand the base product to encompass 3 more species: Leopard Shark, Tiger Shark, and “Orca” (a shark masquerading as a Killer Whale!).

Each texture comes with its own unique set of scars and 5 alternate color versions so you can have variation within the species. Since the Orca does not have any patterns to the skin to play with, we added a tribal tattoo instead.

In total, you get 24 Full Transition Preset Materials (the Orca Preset has an alternate version with the tribal tattoos), 18 utility presets to control pattern color visibility and emission, and 6 presets to control the visibility of the scars.

Like with the base product, we built these designs around the Iray 4-Layer Uber PBR Shader, ensuring a highly customizable design right from the comfort of the Daz Studio Interface (surface panel). In fact, all of the color variations are made with the same set of maps, which not only saves on disc space but will also allow you to choose your own color combination.

For those who like to add some emission flavor, we added masks to add emission and some utilities to control the color and intensity. The presets contained in this pack should all be applied to the Transition Geoshell.

Important: The presets contained in this pack should all be applied to the Transition Geoshell. Also, the materials for the Transition Geoshell (overall look) will not be fully visible in the viewport, and the opacity will not be apparent, but they will render as shown in their icons.

  • Important:
    • The Iray Materials for the Transition Geoshell (Scars & War Paint) will not be visible in viewport, but they will render as they should.
  • How to apply to a Genesis 8.1 Character:
    • For those unfamiliar with the surface differences between Generation 8 and 8.1, the latter basically breaks the Genesis 8 “Torso” Surface into two separate Surfaces called “Body” and “Head”.
    • Consequently, since the Material Presets and Geoshell are reliant on surface names to work properly, none of the included materials will apply to the “Head” and “Body” surfaces of 8.1.
    • Nevertheless, you can make it work by manually adjusting things with the following process:
      • Load a Genesis 8 Character and use the “Apply All” wearable to prepare your character. Apply the final look using the included Material Presets (either using only the Designer Set or refining one of those sets with the partial material presets).
      • Once you are happy with the look of the FPE Shark Transition, load a Genesis 8.1 Character.
      • Apply the wearables to the 8.1 Character, including the Transition Geoshell (FPE Shark Transition). You will notice that the torso and head surfaces load white and without the appropriate textures. Select those two surfaces within the Surfaces Panel inside of Daz Studio (windows > Tab > Surfaces).
      • Locate and apply to those surfaces the “Iray 4-Layer Uber PBR MDL” shader. In your Content/Connect Library you will find it at the following location: Shader Presets > Daz Uber.
      • Now, select the “FPE Shark Transition” Geoshell of the Genesis 8 Character you loaded and worked the look on. Navigate to the Torso Surface (within the Surfaces Panel), right-click on the word “Torso” > “Copy Selected Surface(s)”.
      • Next, select the “FPE Shark Transition” Geoshell of the Genesis 8.1 Character. In the Surfaces panel right-click on the “Head” Surface > Paste Selected Surface(s).
      • Do the same with the “Body” Surface.
      • If you want to use that later, do not forget to save the New Transition Geoshell as a wearable and the Materials as a Material Preset!
