“LIE Body Scars 2 for Genesis 3 & 8 Female(s)” is a collection of 17 hand painted scars that cover the arms, hands, legs and feet of your character. Also included is a mirror version of the Iray LIE Material Presets, which gets you a total of 34 presets per generation!
However, we know your characters' skins will vary greatly in color, so we've also included three sets of varying scar colors: Light, Midtone, and Dark. Of course, you’re free to mix and match the skin preset scars for even greater variation! And even better, you can stack the presets atop each other for more variation in color and create a more prominent scar (in most cases)!
Use this pack to show the struggles your character(s) has been though, injecting subtext into your every render! Whether they survived a battle, love to fight, or simply ventured into the wrong side of town, LIE Body Scars 2 will help tell your story!
Below is a list of the installation package types provided by this product. The name of each package contains a Package Qualifier (WIP), which is used as a key to indicate something about the contents of that package.
[ ] = Optional, depending on target application(s)
Not all installation packages provide files that are displayed to the user within the interface of an application. The packages listed below, do. The application(s), and the location(s) within each application, are shown below.
Note: The result relies on the skin settings of your character of choice as well as the lightning condition of your scene. If you find that the glossiness of a scar is too strong (too reflective), we recommend lowering the opacity of the specular channel of the scar layer through the Layered Image Editor.
Remember to apply both the empty normal and the empty heightmap to the skins that do not have them before applying any of the presets to avoid seam bleeding.
LIE Body Scars NOT a merchant resource. The textures included should be used as they are; meaning you cannot use them to create scar brushes (for photoshop, substance painter, or any other program), to create extra textures or make morphs based on them. As this product relies on the Base Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 Female UVs, the scars should apply properly to all Generation 8 Females (except stand-alone characters with their unique UVs). However, this pack will only work as intended on Generation 3 Females using the base UVs. Generation 3 core characters should be able to use most of the scars (with variations in positioning) except for those across the seams.
ABOUT THE PRODUCT
LIE BODY SCARS 2 for Genesis 3 & Genesis 8 Female(s) is a set of 34 scars intended to add details to a character's textures via the Layered Image Editor. Users can add more personality to any Genesis 3 & Genesis 8 Female character by applying or combining these LIE Scar Presets. While the presets have designed to work with their respective skins, they can certainly be applied to other skin colors to achieve different results. They can also be stacked for even more variations. Each pack contains 17 unique scars plus a mirror version of each one, all of which can work together to create infinite possibilities. The following information details the folder structure for “LIE BODY SCARS 2 for Genesis 3 & Genesis 8 Female(s)” and should serve as an overview of the product:
LIE MATERIAL PRESETS:
You’ll find three folders in your “Content Library” under the following paths: “People / Genesis 3 Female / Materials / FenixPhoenix / Body Scars 2” & “People / Genesis 3 Female / Materials / FenixPhoenix / Body Scars 2”
Includes a material presets to apply an “empty” normal map. As the icon explains, you should only use apply this if the character you are using (the skin) does not have a normal map. Most Generation 8 characters have a normal map, but Generation 3 characters do not. If your character has a normal map, you can ignore that preset and simply apply the scars of your choice.
We have also included an “empty” displacement map to use a) if your character does not have a displacement map (most characters do not) or b) if you are not doing close-ups of the scars. If you are not doing close-ups, you can ignore this one to save on render time.
If you applied the displacement option but are getting visible seams (or you simply do not plan to do close-ups), we’ve included a step 03 with a material preset to get rid of the displacement.
Here you can find three folders containing the LIE Iray Material Presets for the different colored skins. Depending on your character’s skin settings, you may find that the Light Presets will appear too pink. If you want a more neutral color, we suggest using the Midtone Presets (which is the one which will blend the best).
STEP 03 (For Genesis 8 Only)
Here you can find a material preset to remove the displacement, which will help decrease rendering resources if you are not using close-ups of the wounds.
You will also find a preset to remove the maps from the Glossy Layered Weight. Most Generation 8 characters use only the Dual Lobe, but a few tend to also dial the GLW without adding a map. The scars will mess with that which will cause seams against the torso. When that happens, using this material preset should fix that.
There is also a LIE script to remove the scars from your character. You need to have your character selected for it to work. If you select only the arms in the surface panel and then use the script, the script will ONLY remove the LIEs applied to the arms.
Texture maps can be found in the following directory: • Runtime / Textures / FenixPhoenix / Body Scars 2 Females
