Created using fiber mesh, here's a short afro for your men. I've taken a different approach to the skull cap and treated it as a separate item, providing five assorted textures to suit.

I think you might find it useful on its own as well. There are also some blended Iray materials presets for the hair as well for those times when you are seeking a unique look.
