Ever wanted your character to look like a pop-art masterpiece? Now, they can!

Dotify for Genesis 8 Female is an innovative skin layering system that combines a base skin shader with a projected polka dot texture - no UV limitations!

As part of the package, you'll get a number of presets for the skin, eyes, lips and nails. You can easily create your own fantasy, sci-fi or everyday presets by changing the base color of these surfaces.

Dotify is a must-have for comic and art fans alike - the possibilities are endless!

  • Core functionality
    • To make the product as easy to use as possible, several presets have been created. All of these can be applied with the Genesis 8 Female character selected:
  • Dotify (wearable preset)
    • This preset contains three items:
  • Dotify - Autohide Faces
    • This is a hidden plane that is fit to Genesis 8 Female. Its purpose is to hide figure surfaces that the decal should not interact with. This includes all eye surfaces, all mouth surfaces, lips and nails.
  • Dotify - Decal blocker
    • This is a geoshell fit to Genesis 8 Female and replaces the surfaces hidden by the autohide plane, plus the face surface. All other shell surfaces are toggled off in shell visibility settings.
  • Dotify - Decal
    • This is an Iray decal node that is parented to Genesis 8 Female and contains the polka dot texture that is projected onto the figure. This is necessary to ensure consistent sizing of the texture across the figure, as traditional texturing would result in significant size differences across UV boundaries.
  • Material presets
    • For convenience, a number of hierarchical material presets have been included in the product:
      • 1. Full Presets
    • These presets include everything ie skin shader, decal coloration, eyes, mouth, lips and nails.
      • 2. Brow Presets
  • 'Brows' and 'No brows' options in case you want to use your own brows.
    • 3. Eye Presets
  • Six eye colors to choose from, or create your own - apply the 'Grey' preset, select the 'Dotify - Decal Blocker' geoshell in the scene and change the base/translucency colour of the 'Iris' surface.
  • Utilities
  • To help you get the most from this product, some utility scripts have been included:
    • Camera - Close, Mid and Far
    • These scripts change the decal 'Projection Scale' property and have the same effect as tiling on a regular texture:
    • - The 'Close' preset makes the dot texture smaller and is designed for close range renders.
    • - The 'Mid' preset is the default setting and will likely be used for the majority of renders.
    • - The 'Far' preset makes the dot texture bigger and is designed for longer range renders.
    • This is entirely down to personal preference, so feel free to experiment. You can also change the decal projection scale settings manually by selecting 'Dotify - Decal' in the scene and going to 'Decal' in the 'Properties' tab.
  • Camera - Sync Decal
    • Whilst decal projection solves the issue of scaling differences between UV boundaries, stretching/deformation of the dot texture can still occur with certain poses and camera angles. Areas to look out for are jawline, shoulders, hands and feet, as these areas are more rounded than others.
    • This script will try to minimise this issue by setting the decal projection rotation settings to the opposite rotation values of the active camera. For best results, some minor adjustments may need to be made to the character pose or decal projection rotation settings manually. Alternatively, you may prefer to correct in postwork.
