Product Information

  • Required Products: None

The Dragonfly is a wondrous faerie-like creature, both fierce and delicate, beautifying nature with an infinite kaleidoscope of iridescent colors and aerobatics. An amazing flyer, able to hover dead still in midair, or dart off in any direction in the blink of an eye.

The Meshworkz Dragonfly is a fully articulated figure from the antenna to nine jointed Tail, Carefully sculpted Mesh and normal maps and hand-painted textures with an eye to replicate nature.

The Two texture sets, Widow Skimmer, and Orange Glider come in 3 different resolutions, a highly detailed 3 UV Material for close up work, and Medium and Low resolution options using a combined single UV Layout for medium and distant rendering. The Dragonfly supports both Iray and 3Delight with both Iray Uber and Uber Surface based material options.

The set also comes with a Hair Conformer/Prop to simulate the small wiry hairs distributed on the torso and head, for detailed images.

There is a wing blur prop, designed to simulate the blur that occurs when the dragonfly beats its wings at 30 beats per second, a speed which makes the wings virtually disappear from view.

We imagined the dragonfly as the regal steed of a fierce breed of Faerie Rangers. With that in mind we have included a saddle for anyone who wishes to hitch a ride.

Additional Details

  • Motion Blur Effect should be loaded from the wearable file found in the Materials/Iray or Materials/3Delight libraries not from Props library.
  • Hair should be loaded from the wearable file found in the Materials/Iray or Materials/3Delight libraries not from Props library.
  • Dragonfly loads at a size sufficient for a rider, a Realistic Scale Pose is provided in the Poses folder.
  • I have also included an animated pose which is designed to deal with the skirts on the dForce Wing Ranger dress or other dynamic clothing which will explode if you try to drape them in the seated pose on the Saddle, the pose is designed to drop the figure to the saddle over an animation sequence of 40 frames, so that the dForce clothing can drape fairly realistically. Here is my recommended workflow.
    • 1. With Dragonfly, Saddle and Rider(with any clothing or accessories included loaded into the scene, apply DragonflyDropToSaddle pose.
    • 2. Parent Figure to the Dragonfly's Thorax for easier positioning in the scene.
    • 3. In your timeline go to Frame 39. in this frame your figure will be seated in the saddle.
    • 4. Do any additional posing here.
    • 5. In the Simulation Settings tab Under Simulation: Duration change the Frames to Simulate from CurrentFrame to Animated (Use Timeline Play Range)
    • 6. Now you can hit simulate and your dForce clothing should drape into the seated pose fairly naturally.
  • This animated pose has only been tested with the dForce Wing Ranger outfit, but with some adjustment of the final pose it should work with other Dynamic Clothing as well.
  • I also Highly recommend using wind generators to blow back clothing for a more natural flying effect.
