This collection contains 244 Shader Presets and the tiling texture maps they are based on. Equip your heroines with trophies of their adventures or texture anything that might look good in luxurious leather. Shaders are great for updating older clothing items to render in Iray. This collection also contains useful coordinating basic leather presets in 6 different patterns (95 presets). Easy to use, scalable, fun to customize the diffuse distress overlays and achieve unique looks.

The 279 shader presets consist of 20 unique seamlessly tiling texture patterns plus the preset color, gloss and distress variations based on those patterns. Many more variations are possible by the end user customizing the diffuse and other parameters. These shaders are based on 312 texture, bump and specular maps and the various material settings customized for Daz Studio Iray. This set contains caiman alligator, lizard, 5 kinds of snake, 2 shark, stingray, metallic, 3 kinds of fish scales, Most presets import matte and have a wax buffed level of polish that can be added over if desired. There are a few quick shaders to set the u and v tiling rate to 12x, 24, 36 and 72, they will work on any tiling shader without changing any other settings. Organized well with subfolders for each leather type. Many more than could be shown in the renders. Hundreds of natural, tactile textures that you will find useful in all kinds of renders.

Additional Details

  • Shaders are very lighting dependent. If a shader comes up too shiny or dull you can adjust it through the top coat glossiness or the glossy specular channel. There are for many kinds of leather a “Polished” shader preset that you would add at the end after choosing your color. The shine on those will be completely controlled by the top coat glossy weight and color, if you need to adjust it. Most presets will be matte by default with a few exceptions. The lighting used to create these and the promo images was Dimension Theory's Iradiance Studio Lights, mostly preset “I” with the brightness modified between F and H. I also recommend his Real World HDR lights.
  • There are diffuse overlay presets, those add a distressed look which you can adjust to match or contrast the base leather with the “diffuse overlay color” parameter. In most cases, light colors work well on dark backgrounds and dark on light, when using a light color the most realistic effect will be achieved by making the color an undyed leather color like rosy light brown or mustard. This will look like wear to the upper layer. Dark overlays look more like shadow, antiquing or staining. Light colors show up much more strongly than dark ones if you change a dark preset to a light color you may need to turn down the strength and vice versa. Since the overlays are not set for each individual color you will need to adjust the strength or color most of the time. Many interesting effects are possible.
  • Each preset will reset the tiling to the original number so you will want to adjust the size last, after all the others. This is done in the “horizontal tiles” and “vertical tiles” parameters or you can use the quick settings in the Leather Shaders 2 folder to change them with one click to x12, 24, 36 or 72. These numbers should match unless you want to create a stretched look. If the pattern looks fuzzy or blocky make those parameters a higher number (more repeats of the texture) if you get a digital noise look then the pattern is too small and reduce the number of repeats until it looks right. Any main color preset will overwrite the glossy setting and diffuse overlay, those will need to be reapplied if you change your color. Diffuse overlay and Gloss or Polish will not change each other or the main color.
  • If nothing happens at all, make sure you have your model selected from the Parameters tab *Drop Down list* and also your material in the Surfaces tab before applying the shader.
  • The textures can also be used in any paint program with a texture fill function or a texture brush to paint UV map textures, they are a merchant resource as well. They may not be redistributed or resold in their original tiling form or as a texture resource. Thank you for your support.
