Product Information

  • Required Products: None

Add a retro feeling to your interior and exterior scenes with this set of weathered marquee letters and numbers. Assemble your favorite words or take your pick of the 23 pre-constructed words. Use included procedural and emissive shaders to change colors, textures and glowing surfaces. Each letter and number has four surface zones and each bulb has three. The procedural shaders allow for very close-up renders or enlarging the scale. Go beyond the world of words to build props and architecture!

By default, each vintage letter and number loads with bulbs, cracked red paint, and worn metal exterior casing.

The letters, numbers, and the giant marquee bulb load at approximately two meters tall. A standard size bulb is included and a preset to load 24 bulbs at one time. Each bulb is parented to its letter or number and has a parented point light, so the bulbs can be deleted or moved.

There are four presets to change metal color, nine to change cracked paint color, and eight to change emissive qualities. Along with the procedural surfaces, the emissive, glass, and bulb metal presets can also be used as shaders on your props and figures. A total of 22 shaders.

Additional Details

  • Product notes: Marquee Letters
  • These props use point lights with light geometry set to cylinder, giving an authentic character to the bulbs when they render close-up.
  • They take a bit longer to render than if the light geometry is set to point light. To speed up your renders switch all light geometry to point, use the included preset to change filament surface to zero opacity, or begin by loading props labeled “faster”.
  • Changing the bulb glass to the default “thin glass” Iray shader will also help speed up renders.
  • To change all Marquee point lights at once, select one light in the scene tab, then right click, and choose “select all lights”. Make sure you unselect the lights you do not want edited. Then adjust brightness, color, etc. to your preferences using AuxViewPort to check results.
  • Edits to the lights are made in Parameters Tab. In “light geometry” you can change to sphere, disk, etc. and the “render emitter” in parameters tab will show/hide the light geometry. When changing light geometry, the lumens may need to be adjusted to retain same brightness.
  • Make sure when using emissive shaders on bulbs to delete the point lights inside as they are not needed. Procedural Shaders are used so tiling can be adjusted by using the scaling channel. The 3 fields represent X,Y, and Z axis.
