Product Information

  • Required Products: None

Dark, dank and dingy brick or bright and gleaming marble; the choice is yours. This product is a staging chamber for your figures and clothing. Pose your favorite character on a pedestal or inside one of the niches and clothe them with armor or flowing gowns and apply the included statue mats to all the pieces to create an instant statue. Create a secret chamber where your characters can worship the gods or forest deities. This is a perfect fantasy room to create magic in.

This product is for Daz Studio 4+ and for Poser 9+. Both sets contain multiple complete scene subset props with two material choices and separate room props. With the separate room props you can personalize, assemble or enlarge your own room to suit your needs. Also included are camera, light presets and material presets for all room pieces as well as a statue material for turning your figures into stone.

The Daz Studio files include a separate folder each for Iray and 3Delight. You can keep both folders or delete the one that you will not be using. The Poser files contain FireFly materials only.

Additional Details

  • This product is to be viewed and rendered from inside the room only.
  • This set was built around the character default load position, whether that be Genesis, V4 or M4. Because of this the full subsets and the entrance wall subset load with the camera outside of the room in some cases. Apply one of the included camera presets to view the the room from the inside. Camera 360 in the Camera folder is a good all-around camera to use for helping to set up your scene. You can rotate 360 degrees in the Y rotation and see the entire set.
  • Daz Studio:
    • When using the Iray material 'Torch Flame' on the wall torch flames the headlamp should not render in the scene for best results. To stop the headlamp from rendering in the scene go to Render settings/General/Auto Headlamp and change it to 'Never'.
    • The 3Delight wall torch flames do not glow or emit light. You should use the included wall torch flame light presets to add torch light to your scene.
    • Do not mix the 3Delight props with the Iray props. The floor in the Iray files is set to plus .22 in the 'Y' direction to stop reflected light from rendering and to raise it above the ground plane so it renders without having the customer turn off 'draw ground' in the render settings.
    • If you are using the floor prop in the scene and it is not showing up in your Iray renders then you will have to turn off 'Draw Ground' in Render Settings. To do this open the Render Settings and select the Environment Tab. Locate Draw Ground and turn it to OFF. You can also leave Draw Ground on and change the Ground Position Mode to 'Manual' instead. Change the Ground Origin Y to -.22. Either of these methods will let you render the floor prop.
    • To use the Statue Shader 1 and Statue Shader 2 you must have the prop that you want to apply the shader to selected in the scene tab. You must then open the Surface tab and select the surface of the prop to apply the shader to. There are two statue shaders included in this product. They are the same except for the size of the tiling. Statue Shader 1 works best on Genesis's body and Statue Shader 2 works best on Genesis's face and mouth. This applies to the included hide material shader as well. You must highlight the material in the surface tab and also in the scene tab before applying the Statue Material Hide.
    • Not all props are smart parented to another prop though some are. The SC Back Wall is the main prop in this set and most smart parented props in this set are parented to it. One exception is the SC Entrance Wall. The SC Torches Entrance Wall, the SC Entrance Door Left and SC Entrance Door Right are smart parented to the SC Entrance Wall. Also, the SC Torch Flame Entrance and SC Torch Flame Back Wall are smart parented to their respective torches.
    • The props that are meant to be replicated and moved about the scene will not be smart parented to any other prop. The non-parented props include: column, pedestal, both free standing walls, mesh light props (in Iray only), jugs and altar. These can be parented to any prop in the scene by selecting them in the scene tab, right clicking on one of them and choosing 'change parent'.
    • The scene subsets in this product load parented to the back wall.
    • When using cameras not included in this set you may need to hide any props or walls that are interferring with the camera. As an example, if you are using a camera that face the back wall or side wall then the entrance wall will need to be hidden or deleted from the scene. If you are using a camera that faces the entrance wall then the back wall will need to be hidden or deleted and any props on the back wall that interfer with the camera being used.
    • When using Half Set 1 and Half Set 2 the material on the ceiling is either Old Brick Ceiling Trans or Marble Ceiling Trans. The Old Brick Ceiling Trans and Marble Ceiling Trans hide the front part of the ceiling so that it does not interfere with rendering.
    • The single ceiling prop may be rotated 180 degrees for use with the trans maps on the entrance wall views.
    • When using the marble room textures you may need to lower the intensity of the lighting depending on the look you are trying to achieve. The included light presets were designed to work best with the Old Brick materials. Since the marble textures are shiny and reflective you may want to delete lights or turn down their intensity.
    • Different screen resolutions will cause parts of the Daz Studio background to be visible in some camera angles when using the half scene subsets. Adjusting the main camera on the Z or Y Dolly and possibly on the Y Orbit rotation may be necessary.
    • The Iray set includes mesh light props that are found in the Light Presets folder of the Iray Staging Chamber prop set. Their intensity can be turned up or down by scaling them smaller/bigger or by dialing up/down the luminance dial in the surfaces tab.
    • The Mesh Light Ceiling can be seen in some camera views. Translate and rotate as needed.
    • The material Statue Hide Shader can be used to hide the wall plate and ring on the torches so that your figures can carry the torch and flame only in the scene. To do this select the SC Torch Single in the Scene tab. In the Surface tab expand the torch material to show all the parts. Select the torch plate and apply the Statue Hide Shader. Do the same thing for the torch ring.
  • Poser:
    • Not all props are smart parented to another prop though some are. The SC Back Wall is the main prop in this set and most smart parented props in this set are parented to it. One exception is the SC Entrance Wall. The SC Torches Entrance Wall, the SC Entrance Door Left and SC Entrance Door Right are smart parented to the SC Entrance Wall. Also, the SC Torch Flame Entrance and SC Torch Flame Back Wall are smart parented to their respective torches.
    • The props that are meant to be replicated and moved about the scene will not be smart parented to any other prop. The non-parented props include: column, pedestal, both free standing walls, jugs, torch single, torch single flame and altar.
    • For ease of use across Poser versions it is advisable to select a parent prop before loading in a smart parented prop. Load the parent prop first and select it, then load the smart parented props. As an example, load the back wall into the scene first and select it, then load the floor into the scene and they will automatically be parented.
    • The complete prop sets in this product load parented to each other.
    • Camera 360 Degrees in the Camera folder is a good all-around camera to use for helping to set up your scene. You can rotate 360 degrees in the Y rotation and see the entire set.
    • Because opposing walls and props can interfere with camera views it is advisable to keep the Hierarchy window open so selecting props to turn on or off is quicker.
    • When using the marble room textures you may need to lower the intensity of the lighting depending on the look you are trying to achieve.
    • Different screen resolutions will cause parts of the Poser and Daz Studio backgrounds to be visible in some camera angles when using the half room subsets. Adjusting the main camera on the Z or Y Dolly and possibly on the Y Orbit rotation may be necessary.
    • When using the complete sets or the floor it is best to hide the ground plane. This can be done by clicking CTRL-G.
    • There are two ways to light the torch flames:
      • #1 - You can find point lights in the Libraries/Light/NGartplay/Staging Chamber folder. One light set will light all the back wall and all the entrance torches. One light set will light the back wall torches only and another will light the entrance wall torches only. Using any of these light sets will delete all other lights in the scene. They can not be used together.
      • #2 - In the Props folder you will find a torch globe prop set for the back wall and a torch globe prop set for the entrance wall. These can be used together and will not delete other lights in the scene. A simple point light preset is included that works well with the torch light globe props to brighten the scene.
    • I included the torch globe props for the following reasons. It helps glow the scene if using torch flame light only. If you use the included torch lights then they can't be used with other lights as they delete other lights when they load. If you use the torch globe props they can be used with lights of your choice and they glow like torch light in the scene.
    • For the torch globe props to have any effect in the scene you must have Indirect Lighting enabled in Render Settings. Indirect Lighting will darken your scene. If you are not going to use the torch flames, torch lights or torch globe props in the scene then you may want to disable indirect lighting.
