Additional Details

  • Loading a figure and changing the textures:
    • Load your favorite Probe from the Library. If you wish to change the texture, click on the sentinal and go to the pose library: Probes Mat Find the texture you would like to use (there is an armor texture or chrome/gold texture option) and click the check mark to add it. This method also applies to the tool tips for the tentacles.
  • Loading a tool tip and attaching it to the end of a tentacle:
    • Hidden inside the tail tip of each tentacle is a small figure called 'socket'. This is parented to the tail tip, do not remove it (unless you prefer not to use the tool tips). This little figure is there so that you can conform one of the tools to the tip of the tentacle. Do to so, follow the instructions below:
      • Click on the parented socket hidden inside the tail tip, check for it's name and remember it. The socket is named differently for each tentacle tip.
      • Select a tool tip from the figures/Probes library. It will appear in the viewing window.
      • Click the base of the tool, then go to the figure menu and click the “conform to..” button.
      • In the “conform to..” dialog box, you will find a list of figure names, choose the one that corresponds to the socket you chose in step 1.
      • The tool tip will now snap into position on the tentacle.
      • The tool tip may be too large or too small for your preference. If this is the case, click on the tool and right below the viewing window you will see 2 down arrows, one arrow has the figure name, the other arrow has the body part name. Click on the arrow under the bodypart name and you will see a list appear that says:
        • bodypart, body, props, lights, camera and so on, click on the word “body”, now on your screen, you will see the dials that adjust the body parts, slide the “scale” button until the tool tip is the size that is right for you. The reason you want to scale the “body” is so that all the parts of the tool will scale together.
  • The tools:
    • Blade: The blade can flick back and forth, click on the blade and dial in the “x rotation” slider.
    • Claw: Both arms of the claw can be controlled at once, click on the bodypart that the claws are attached to and slide the Open dial, both claws will open at once.
    • Grasper: The grasper can have all the claws controlled at once, click on the bodypart that the claws are attached to and slide the “grasp 1” and “grasp 2” dials, the claws will work all at once.
    • Lazer: Inside the tip of the lazer is the lazerbeam, use the Lazerbeam dial to lengthen the beam. You can control the beams color in the materials editor.
    • Radar: The bodypart that the sides of the radar are connected has a dial called “open”, slide it and all the sides of the radar will open at once.
  • Deleting a figure from your scene:
    • When you delete a figure from your scene, the parented sockets (hidden in each tail tip will remain, you must delete them manually. The sockets are colored red and look like a pyramid.
