Dance, deflect bullets, light a dark path, fly, sail away, and create an intimate soft-lit space for your characters with Illumberella. This illuminated umbrella for 3Delight and Iray is a SmartProp that emits light and has many materials that work like stained glass. Smart Propped Poses are included; five for Genesis 3 Female and five slightly different poses for Genesis 3 Male. The soft light and shadow is created by utilizing a combination of a light emissive surface and lights, all finely tuned to create great renders. Because the light is generated by both a surface and actual lights, you can turn the light intensity up or down without affecting how the umbrella renders.

This versatile prop has many uses besides keeping your characters dry. Full presets include a glowing protective shield umbrella for secret agents (with poseable ricochet bullets), a traditional black umbrella with lights, and a colorful pattern umbrella. For quick set up, all of these presets load with specific lights and surfaces. For 3Delight and Iray there are 9 solid surfaces and 7 that transmit color and a full material reset. The inside and outside separate surfaces so they can be edited independently.

Posing a prop perfectly in a character’s hand can slow you down when composing a scene, so the main umbrella has been saved as a SmartProp. This means when you have your figure selected, all you do is load the preset and your figure is instantly posed with the umbrella prop in hand. When using your own poses we have also included SmartProp Poses that only affect the hand (Right or Left). Also, if you start going through your own full-body poses and either hand loses it’s grip on the umbrella, we have included grip-only poses.

Whether you are working with Iray, 3Delight, Genesis 3 Male, or Genesis 3 Female you will find multitude of options, variety, ease of use, and great renders.

Illumberella is a static prop, it does not close.
The included bullets lighting effects are for the agent umbrella pose preset.
A preset for Age of Armour Advanced Ambient Light is included but not needed for full functionality.
There are slight differences in tiling and effects between Iray and 3Delight.

• Simple set up steps:
  • For 3Delight and Iray:
  • Select Genesis 3 Female or Male in the scene tab, load The Smart Prop Pose for the gender and render engine that you are using, then apply materials. You may want to delete the parented lights if you’re using one of the transmitted surfaces. To switch umbrella props but keeping it’s position in the scene: Simply un-parent the default umbrella, copy its location, load a new one, and paste. From there you can parent the new umbrella back into position (one of the hands).
  • If using older figures a pose converter can come in real handy.
• Specific Tips for Iray
  • To see through the umbrella, adjust Cut Out for the outside material (in surfaces tab) to .85 or so. This will also reduce the color saturation and clarity of the pattern that is projected though. The illuminated umbrella uses a combination of lights and an emissive material on the inside, so you can affect the brightness of each separately.
