Additional Details

  • YAMAKI FDR2 FUSION
    • Using these materials for Yamaki FDR2 Fusion is pretty straight forward. Just select any part of the motorcycle using the surface selector and then apply the presets.
    • If you have used the original materials that came with the FDR2 Fusion, you may have noticed that the displacement map for the tires is actually the wrong map. I have include a preset to fix this with the correct displacement map. It will be unnecessary if you are using the new presets, but I thought it might be useful to include it.
  • XS WEAR
    • Using these materials for XS Wear is pretty straight forward. Just select the top or pants using the surface selector and then apply the presets. In fact, you can select both at the same time and then apply the presets because the surfaces have distinct names and won’t overwrite each other.
    • There are four presets to change the style of the materials. The default style is different with the various materials, but using the included presets you may choose to give your XS Wear the look of glittering Lamé, the sleek appearance of curve hugging Latex, a luxurious leather finish, or make it Lycra, the gird girl favorite. You will want to set all of your color options first before applying the fabric presets.
    • There are a couple of transparency options included, as well. The “Holey Latex” transparency maps will give you a pattern of circular cutouts that wind around your model’s body but manage to keep the important coverage in place, despite all those holes. There is also a cleavage-baring lace panel option for the top. There are five different presets which should take care of all of your needs. Just pick the lace preset appropriate to your chose fabric and design.
  • MOTORCYCLE HELMETS FOR GENESIS
    • Using these materials for the Motorcycle Helmet is pretty straight forward. Just select the Sportsbike Helmet using the surface selector and then apply the presets.
    • There are also three presets to change the style of the materials. The default style is glossy, but using the included presets you may choose to give your helmet a glossy finish, a satin finish, or a matte finish. You will want to set all of your color options first before applying the finish presets.
  • ACTION KICKER BOOTS
    • Using these materials for the Action Kicker Boots is pretty straight forward. Just select the boots using the surface selector and then apply the presets. All of the presets will work with both the left and right boot. There are combined presets that will set both the boot and the strap colors, and partial presets that will allow you to change the boot and strap colors separately.
    • There are also three presets to change the style of the materials. The default style is glossy, but using the included presets you may choose to give your boots a glossy finish, a satin finish, or a matte finish. You will want to set all of your color options first before applying the finish presets.
  • The reflection maps included in this product simulate a brightly lit environment. If your lighting is more subdued it can cause your objects to appear brighter than they would normally. They will even have a slight glow in a completely dark environment. This is a normal behavior and is the nature of a reflection map. There are two ways to deal with this. The first is to simply reduce the brightness of the reflection color in the editor tab of the surfaces pane. For instance, use a gray instead of white. The better way is to use the included preset described below to remove the reflection maps and render realistic reflections.
  • I have included a utility shader to remove the reflection maps from any surface. It works in conjunction with most other shaders and will work great with all of the material presets in this set. By removing the reflection maps, you will get realistic reflections in your renders. You apply this by first selecting all of the surfaces you want to apply it to and then applying the preset. I generally will select one surface from each object and then use the editor tab of the surfaces pane to select all the surfaces in the selected objects before applying this preset. That way I am sure to get realistic reflections in all the surfaces. This preset should generally be applied last because other presets will restore the reflection maps and real reflections will increase your render times.
  • A few notes about using realistic reflections. In most cases, the default “Max Ray Trace Depth” setting of 2 will work just fine. However, if you are using transparent objects or have several reflective objects near each other, a setting of 4 or 6 will give you a better result. Having this parameter set too low can give glass a solid gray appearance in places and make shadowed surfaces behind refractive transparent objects seem to glow. Simply increasing the “Max Ray Trace Depth” can make these issues go away. To change this parameter you will need the editor tab of the Render Settings pane. The setting itself is under the “Sampling” heading.
