Additional Details

* PLEASE NOTE Although the Somerset Lodge can be used successfully in any setting in Poser or DAZ Studio. It is however best used in the Somerset Valley environment within WorldBase XT. That way you will get large and detailed 3d World scenes that are very realistic within both Poser and DAZ Studio.

  • APPLYING AND USING SOMERSET LODGE
    • In Poser go to “Figures / Magix-101 / Somerset-Lodge and install both the 1_TreeHouse and 2_TH-Trees.
    • Then go to “Cameras / Magix-101 / Somerset-Cams” and select a camera to use
    • After that go to “Light / Magix-101 / Somerset-Lights” and select a light set to use (AO Lights are for Ambient Occlusion / Poser Only)
    • Finally go to “Pose / Magix-101 / Somerset-Lodge to apply a White or Wood texture to the TreeHouse (AO textures are for Ambient Occlusion / Poser Only)
  • In DAZ Studio go to “My Library / Magix-101 / Somerset-Main and you will find all the folders in that directory.
  • Follow the same procedure as described above for Poser to set up your scene in DAZ Studio.
  • ADJUSTING FIGURES
    • Somerset Lodge is positioned to sit neatly on the ground in the Somerset Valley scene, which is raised above normal Poser or Daz ground level.
      • So if you have Somerset Valley and also the Somerset Lodge placed on the Valley ground (it does this automatically).
      • So now if you want to use a DAZ or Poser figure in this scene then you simply select the “body” part and translate it on the Y axis (ytran) upwards about 5.540 so the figure will be on the right Somerset ground level.
      • Alternatively if you dont have Somerset Valley, simply drop the Somerset Lodge to Poser and Daz level Ground by dropping it about -5.540 on the Y axis (ytran).
      • Finally if you find the Somerset Lodge too large (its designed so its a little larger than the smaller figures) then select it and scale it down and re set it on the ground with the Y Axis.
  • CAMERAS and LIGHTS
    • Make sure you put one of the included Poser or Daz Cameras in your scene immediately after putting Somerset Lodge or Somerset Valley in your scene.

The conventional Cameras and lights will not work that well because they are set up for small figure rendering environments and are not set up to work that well in Somerset Scenes.

  • Once you have the setup ands understand how it works you can use a custom or global light set (if you have one) for more sophisticated renders.
  • RENDERING
  • Raytracing produces the most accurate renders, but if you have Somerset Valley then Raytracing can be very slow if you have a lot of trees in your scene.

Light thru tree leaf transparencies take time..so if you decide to use Raytracing, then its probably better to do it overnight unless you have a very fast computer.

  • Ambient Occlusion combined with good quality shadow maps can produce good results too, and there are some custom AO Materials and Lights setups in this Package..
  • (Poser Only) However the Ambient Occlusion results in Poser can be a little unpredictable at the best of times, so you may need to experiment a little.

Happy Rendering!

  • Well thats it.
    • I really hope you like using Somerset-Lodge, and I hope you will find it useful in your Poser/Daz creations.
    • Best Wishes
    • MAGIX-101
