Additional Details

  • Although Somerset Valley can be used successfully in any setting in Poser or DAZ Studio. It is however best used within WorldBase XT. (Lushlands). That way you will get large and detailed 3d World scenes that are very realistic within both Poser and DAZ Studio.
  • INSTALLING
    • Simply install it into the Poser or DAZ-Studio directory.
  • APPLYING AND USING SOMERSET VALLEY
    • In Poser go to “Figures / Magix-101 / Somerset-Valley and install the Main Setting and then the different valley parts you want to use. Then go to “Cameras / Magix-101 / Somerset-Cams” and select a camera to use After that go to “Light / Magix-101 / Somerset-Lights” and select a light set to use (AO Lights are for Ambient Occlusion / Poser Only). Finally go to “Pose / Magix-101 / Somerset-Valley to apply MAT files to your scene (AO textures are for Ambient Occlusion / Poser Only)
  • In DAZ Studio go to “My Library / Magix-101 / Somerset-Main and you will find all the folders in that directory. Follow the same procedure as described above for Poser to set up your scene in Daz Studio.
  • ADJUSTING FIGURES
    • Somerset Valley is raised above normal Poser or DAZ ground level, so if you have Somerset Lodge simply place it in your scene and it will sit on the Valley ground automatically.
    • If you want to use a DAZ or Poser figure in this scene then you simply select the “body” part and translate it on the Y axis (ytran) upwards about 5.540 so the figure will be on the right Somerset Valley ground level.
  • CAMERAS and LIGHTS
    • Make sure you put one of the included Poser or DAZ Cameras in your scene immediately after putting Somerset Valley in your scene. The conventional Cameras and lights will not work that well because they are set up for small figure rendering environments and are not set up to work that well in Somerset Scenes. Once you have the setup and understand how it works you can use a custom or global light set (if you have one) for more sophisticated renders.
  • RENDERING
    • Raytracing produces the most accurate renders, but in Somerset Valley Raytracing can be very slow if you have used a lot of trees in your scene.
  • Light thru tree leaf transparencies take time..so if you decide to use Raytracing, then its probably better to do it overnight unless you have a very fast computer.
  • Ambient Occlusion combined with good quality shadow maps can produce good results too, and there are some custom AO Materials and Lights setups in this Package.. (Poser Only) However the Ambient Occlusion results in Poser can be a little unpredictable at the best of times, so you may need to experiment a little.

Happy Rendering!
