Product Information

Dolled Up is a texture and shader set created to transform you characters into literal dolls.

The included porcelain doll base texture can be applied to any figure that uses Victoria 4 UVs. This includes Victoria 4, Aiko 4, Stephanie Petite 4, Genesis, and Genesis 2 Females with the Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Females product by MallenLane. Eight full makeup presets with mix and match lip options, a doll-like eyelash option, and nipple texture on/off options are available. Five hand painted glass doll eye textures round out the porcelain doll texture set. Each texture and makeup was painted with subtle pastel tones to simulate the lavendar oil painting techniques used my many dollmakers. You are not limited to these textures, however. The shaders described below can be applied to literally any texture set you already own, regardless of UVs.

The magic comes in with the shaders. Transform your characters into exquisite porcelain or china dolls, ready for display. Whether you are looking for the powdery soft look of fine bisque porcelain, the satiny smooth texture of hard paste porcelain, or the high shine of delicate bone china, these shaders have you covered. Each is available in 3 shades: white, light pink, and light peach. Presets were designed to apply the shader over whatever texture you are using without overwriting your existing choice. No need to hold ctrl when clicking the presets.

Additionally, two plastic doll shaders are included for those who wish for a more “toy” appearance. Pale, to apply over textures that are already strongly tinted, and Strong, to be used with Dolled Up textures and others that are very pale.

No doll is complete without a display stand and an outfit to bring her home in. Dolled Up includes a doll stand, swimsuit, and plastic shoes, each available in 4 colors. The swimsuit and shoes are built for Genesis, but will work on Genesis 2 Females with autofit. The stand is universal, and completely adjustable to fit any doll and outfit you are using.

Finally, Genesis morphs to hide the lacrimal and make the irises larger have been included, as well as the light set used in the promos.

Additional Details

  • Dolled Up contains a complete texture set for your porcelain or plastic dolls. The texture is very basic, with subtle tones so as to appear unpainted in certain areas of the dolls. A no-nipples version of the torso texture is included, with a preset to apply it to your figure. Also included are presets for the custom eyelashes, made from pictures of false eyelashes, and the 8 makeup options.
  • The textures are all mapped with Victoria 4 uvs so that you may use them with any generation figure that has V4 mapping available, such as Aiko 4, Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 with Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 add-on by MallenLane.
  • Whether you use Dolled Up's included textures, or any texture set in your library, regardless of UV mapping, you will then apply the porcelain, china, bisque, or plastic shader to the surfaces you wish to have “dolled up.” In most cases, this would be all of the skin surfaces, and the mouth surfaces (including teeth). If you don't plan to render the mouth open, it is advisable to not include them in your selection before applying the shader. This is because some of the shaders use the Subsurface Shader Base, which increases render time. If the mouth is closed, no need for the extra computation time. Do not select the eye surfaces (cornea, iris, pupil, sclera, tear, eye-reflection, eye-surface) unless you wish to have the porcelain effects added to them as well. Also, do not select the eyelashes materials because the shader will clear the transparency maps and diffuse color, leaving you with invisible eyelashes.
  • Once you have all desired surfaces selected, you may then double-click the appropriate preset. This will remove all bump and specular maps, but leave the diffuse texture you have chosen and will apply the white, pink, or peach tint per the chosen shader. There is no need to hold the ctrl/cmd key when applying these shaders. If you do hold ctrl, then choose “ignore” in the resulting pop-up window, this will leave all specular and bump maps in place, which may not give the desired porcelain results when rendering.
  • If you have included the eye surfaces in your selection, whether intentionally or accidentally, then apply the shader, you will have to go to each surface that was meant to be transparent (ie, eyelashes, cornea, tear, eye-surface, eye-reflection) and reset the transparency maps and opacity.
  • There will be some situations when using your own textures where the presets are either too intense or not intense enough to get the desired final color. If this happens, you can manually adjust the diffuse color as needed. The presets were created with Dolled Up textures in mind, which are practically colorless.
  • The swimsuit has additional material zones so that you may hide part of the suit to create underwear, bikini, sports bra, or tank top as desired. The shoes also have a separate heel zone so that you may create two-toned shoes. Both the swimsuit and shoes are meant to be doll clothes, so they are not ultra-realistic and actually a bit “off” in their fit and appearance. This is intentional. A shoe pose has been included to apply to Genesis or Genesis 2 Female.
  • The included light set was used to obtain good reflections and specular highlights on the shinier surfaces (china, plastic, and porcelain), but the shaders actually look fantastic with HDR lights and equally good in most lighting situations.
