Islander Action Use

  • POSITIONING THE CREWS:
    • Poses for Islanders; rowers, sail riggers, fishermen, passengers, and captives will all position the figure within each canoe in each canoe's default loading position. Canoe campers load on the ground plane.
    • Note that the canoes load slightly below the Ground Plane, simulating its position in water. So do sitting poses. As such, if the canoe is sitting within a water plane prop the water will “rise” in the canoe and be visible. For close-up renders lower the water plane below the canoe. It will still be visible in the background, but not inside the canoes.
    • Note that Rowers are left and right side poses and the lower hand holding the oar is the Parent of the prop. Left hand Parent for port rowers and right hand Parent for starboard rowers.
    • Once a figure is set up, apply a port-stern pose. Then apply the other port rowers in sequence to the same figure. It will jump from place to place and back again in any sequence.
    • To make uniform rowers pose a figure and move it by the Hip to the next seat. Repeat the process for that side. Some leg adjustment may be necessary as the hulls taper in width.
  • The easiest method for composing a scene is to load all in default positions and fit cameras, backgrounds, and water planes to the scene. If you want to move the boat around attach each crew figure to the canoe-Parent. Then move the boat around.

Or, attach all to an invisible Null-Figure and move the Null.

  • POSITIONING & MAKING SMART PROPS:
    • This takes 2 minutes or less and will save you a lot of time:
    • Apply an oar or spear loading pose to the figure, for example, 0 Oar Loader-GM.
    • Load the prop, Hawaiian Oar (un-Parented).
    • Attach the prop (oar) to M4's left hand as the Parent.
    • Set the Parameter Dial values for that prop as listed below.
    • Values shown are Default Units for Poser and for DAZ Studio.
    • The props will snap into place and follow the action.
    • Repeat the process for each prop.
    • Sometimes smart props for Genesis figures may need tweaking from post to pose.
