This is a step-by-step guide with screen shots that shows you how to install both ExP base figures (Victoria 4.2 and Michael 4) into Poser on the PC. These screen shots show Poser 7. They apply equally to Poser 6. If you are using Poser 7 Pro, the procedure is similar with the exception that you will need to choose 'DAZ Studio' as the target application and then browse to the correct path (Poser 7 Pro). At no time, is the target folder 'runtime' or 'downloads.' If you use the runtime or the download folder, the product will not work properly.

There are two figure bases for fourth generation figures, Victoria 4.2 Base and Michael 4 Base. These screen shots show Victoria 4.2 Base. However, they apply equally to Michael 4.

Find the correct installer, not a support file. Some files are DAZ Studio support files. They are important for using the product for DAZ Studio users, but they are not part of the installation of the morphs themselves. If you install file has 'DS' in it, then it is a support file. Files marked for DAZ Studio (DS) should never be installed into Poser. They won't hurt anything, but they do not provide any benefit to Poser users.

The Victoria 4.2 Base installer. You may also use the Michael 4 base installer.

Double-click the installer to launch it.

The next screen gives you the option of having an uninstaller. This is optional. If you are not sure, we recommend that you choose 'yes' to create an uninstaller.

The license agreement is next.

Image

Choose Poser as the target application. Poser 6 Users can still choose 'Poser 7.' Poser 7 Pro users will need to select 'DAZ Studio' and then choose to 'specify' the directory.

Image

Now choose the correct target folder. The target folder is the Poser folder itself. If you use a different folder like 'runtime' or 'downloads,' the product will not work correctly and you probably won't even be able to find it in your library.

Image

We generally don't recommend a custom runtime setup, especially if you are a new user. If you do insist on using a custom runtime, please make sure that the target directory is EXACTLY THE SAME as the directory you used for the base. If you use a different path, the morph add-on will NOT work.

Setup tells you it's ready to begin writing files.

Setup writes files Image

Setup tells you that a shortcut for the initialization script for Victoria 4.2 base or Michael 4 base has been placed on the desktop. Initialization is very important for ExP (4th generation) figures and morphs to work correctly.

Image

Setup reminds you where you installed the product

Image

This last part actually runs the initialization and displays the readme. Leave both boxes checked and press 'next.' It is also possible to run the initialization script manually.

Image

Setup tells you that initialization is complete. Press 'OK.'

Image

The readme is displayed. The readme tells you where you can find the content you just installed in your Poser Library.

Your product is installed. If you have purchased a morph add-on, you can now install it.
