Additional renders using this set:

Michael Ambruso - TheSea:

  • V4 Base model required. Apterimata Flight recommended, but not required
  • Following morphs and characters recommended and supported: V4++, Aiko4, The Girl 4, V4 Elite, V4 Male, She Freak.
  • DAZ Studio 3.x or Poser 7 and up recommended.
  • Product may work in earlier versions in both programs, but has not been thoroughly tested in the earlier versions.

  • Load V4 into the scene and inject desired morphs.
  • For Shoe fitting, select V4, go to …Runtime\Libraries\Pose\Apteromata\INJ-REM-Utility… and apply 006-FootMorph INJ.pz2. This will morph the feet to fit inside shoes.
  • Load desired pieces and “Fit To” V4, if they haven't been fitted automatically.
  • Morph and pose your character and set pieces as desired.

  • POSER:
  • Load V4 into the scene and inject desired morphs.
  • For Shoe fitting, select V4, go to …Runtime\Libraries\Pose\Apteromata\INJ-REM-Utility… and apply 006-FootMorph INJ.pz2
  • Make sure V4 in your scene is selected prior to inserting each cr2 in your scene. This step is critical to ensure Superconforming and JCM's work properly.
  • Load desired cr2 into the scene.
  • Select the loaded object, and conform to V4
  • Make sure V4 in your scene is selected AGAIN, before inserting the next clothing cr2 (such harness, corset, skirts etc…) into the scene.

  • All CR2's will load with no materials applied. Once in the scene, please navigate to ….Runtime\Libraries\Materials\ApteromataMAT… pose directory and apply desired mat poses. This will work for both, Poser and DS. In DS, pay specific attention that the scene object and the corresponding surface are both selected. Otherwise the material may not apply.
  • Clothing items make use of JCM and Super conforming (crosstalk) features. For Poser, It is recommended you follow the loading procedure outlined in quickstart instructions to ensure the morphs in the clothing link properly to those in the V4 figure. Without that, there may be severe pokethroughs. If the JCM or Super conforming link should break or not take for some reason, you may still use the Dial(s) in the BODY (or body part) group to manually morph the clothing as needed.
  • Clothing and especially poses are meant to be used with V4's IK chain and limits off.
  • Magnetizing clothing items to V4 is not required but may help prevent pokethru with some poses. It may make it worse in other cases. Use at your own discretion. This product also contains many loosen/tighten and adjust morphs to aid with fits in a wide range of poses.
  • StylingMorphs - these are the fun morphs, but can also aid in fitting. Please take you time to familiarize yourself with their look and function. Our products have a lot of them. The rest is up to your imagination. Not all styling dials will work well when mixed. What works together well is mostly based on common sense.
  • LoosenTighten Morphs - these morphs aid in adjusting fit and correcting minor poke thru you may encounter with some poses.
  • BodyMorphs - Full Body Morphs to match those commonly used with V4 are included with the product. The dial setting values on these are best kept between 0 and 1. Higher or lower setting +/- can yield undesired results. However, you can often use the Loosen-Tighten and Styling Morphs to compensate.
  • Windy Morphs - Many items include “Windy” type morphs. This is a way to have a somewhat 'cloth simulated' look, without having to run through a cloth simulation. these morphs have been made using 3D Studio Max cloth simulations, and then hand touched up.

* Skirts and cuffs - Skirts and many cuff ruffles are made out of two layers of polygons. In some cases this may aid texturing, allowing for layering. In case where several morphs are mixed together, the back side may poke through the front of the material. Unfortunately, this is the limitation of the system. As an aid to remedy this, we provided several MAT poses located in .Runtime\Libraries\Pose\Apteromata\MATerials…. To turn OFF the back side.

  • Poser and DAZ Studio materials have been assembled to work with medium intensity white light combined with medium intensity IBL; Or Uber-Environment in DS. For more refined results, specularity, reflection, diffusion and other shader parameters may need additional adjustments to perform best under your lighting of choice. This is normal. There are no “one size fits all” solutions for every shader/lighting combination.

  • HARNESS - harness has a dual purpose, one as a piece of clothing, the other is to mount the wings on the harness. Both, the harness and the wings may look the best when used together, however, if someone wants to achieve a different look, they can be used individually too. Harness has many styling morphs to make it look more or less worn and torn, and to hide parts for a simple or more complex look. Harness can also be used with or without the corset. This is identical harness as what is found in the Apteromata Flight. It is part of the reason for the ‘bundling discount‘. We believed that harness was crucial to both sets, Finery, and Flight, so we included it in both. Upon install, the files will overwrite each other, and you will only have one harness in t…Runtime\Libraries\Character\Apteromata… directory. This is how it’s supposed to work.
  • CORSET - Corset can be used with the harness, or with other pieces of clothing. It has several styling and adjustment morphs. It also has several MAT poses that can turn it into bra-only. It has couple special morphs that make it possible to fit it inside or outside shorts of my previous release, the Toolgirl. Some of the corset chest detailing can be turned on and off via morphs.
  • NECK CUFF - Neck cuff ruffle has two layers of polygons, for various texturing effects. In case of poke through, please use a ‘transparency‘ utility pose to hide the underside. Neck cuff Ruffle has a set of fluffing, windy and draping poses for a different look. Also it has several adjustment poses to make the ruffle fit around cheeks and chin of various characters. To fit neck cuff around Aiko or The Girl heads, dials will have to be applied manually.
  • ARM CUFFS - There‘s a separate cr2 for each arm cuff, one for left arm, one for right arm. They share the same texture. Arm Cuff ruffles are also made out of two layers of polygons, so in case of poke through, please use transparency MAT utility to hide the underside. Arm cuffs too have several styling and adjustment morphs.
  • THREE SKIRTS - This set has three different skirts. Each of them can be used individually, or mixed with other two or three, for a whole array of different looks. All skirts are made with two layers of polygons (see note about underside pokethroughs below). All of the skirts have many styling, adjustment and of course, WINDY morphs. Bottom and mid skirt also have posing body handle bones added to them. Instead of body handles, we provided a number of movement dials at the body level of each skirt to manipulate them.
  • SHOES and SPATS - Shoes and spats are split into four separate cr2‘s. This makes for easier mixing and matching. Set can be used with or without shoes, and same with spats - in case you want to mix them with other shoes or pants or tights etc. base texture in this set is made in the same style as the BadKittehCo’s Zetta boots. We recommend using those for less steam punk, more fantasy kind of a look. Left and Right spat share textures. Same with booties, left and right share a texture.
  • TEXTURES - This set has one set of very detailed textures, with several options. Poser users, for best results be sure to turn ON displacement. Several on/off transparency utility MAT poses have been provided to achieve different appearance of various parts.
  • UNDERSIDE POKETHROUGHS - many of the lacy and ruffle pieces are made with two layers of polygons, for various texturing effects. In case of poke through, please use a ‘transparency‘ utility pose to hide the underside. By Default, all cr2’s pieces load with the bottom/underside layer of polygons material zone turned off (transparent). Should you choose to apply third party materials and shaders to this set, you may want to experiment with turning these material zones on and off.

  • Make a copy of a ….Runtime\Libraries\Materials\ApteromataMAT… directory. I usually name it “MATSDS2”
  • Delete .dsb files from the …\runtime\libraries\Pose\CowboySweetheart\MATSDS2 directory. This will leave you with Plain Poser .pz2 files which will load the textures, in a normal DAZ Studio fashion. Specularity, bump and other material settings need to be optimized manually.

  • Filling this out as they become available.

  • CR2’s are located in ….Runtime\Libraries\Character\Apteromata
  • MAT Poses are in: ….Runtime\Libraries\Pose\Apteromata\MATerials…. This folder also contains several DS utility MAT Poses for metal and transparency.
  • Poser users - transparency and metal MAT poses are in ….Runtime\Libraries\Materials\Apteromata…. This is because of Poser limitation, where mt5’s can not be converted into poses, and applied on *any* mat zone.
  • Please see readme file included with the product for a full file list.
